E*Trade Adds More Commission-Free ETFs

, one of the largest discount brokers, added to its offering of commission-free exchange-traded funds in significant fashion last week, announcing it has added 47 ETFs from five providers to its commission-free stable since the start of 2017.

Issuers making their debut on E*Trade's commission-free ETF platform are ETF Securities, Guggenheim Investments, IndexIQ, John Hancock and JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPM's JPMorgan Asset Management.

E*Trade clients can now trade 133 ETFs on a commission-free basis and 4,400 no-transaction-fee mutual funds, according to a statement.

Among the well-known ETFs just added to E*Trade's commission-free roster are the ETFS Gold Trust SGOL, Silver Trust SIVR and the Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF RSP.

Additionally, all of Guggenheim's equal-weight sector ETFs along with equal-weight spins on the S&P SmallCap Index and the S&P MidCap 400 Index are now available on E*Trade without commissions.

Two of John Hancock's broad market smart beta ETFs and nine of the issuer's smart beta sector ETFs are available to E*Trade clients commission-free.

Other new additions to the E*Trade commission-free ETF lineup include the JPMorgan Diversified Return U.S. Mid Cap Equity ETF JPME and the JPMorgan Diversified Return Emerging Markets Equity ETF JPEM.

In January, E*Trade announced the addition of 36 ETFs to commission-free platform.
