Weight Watchers International, Inc.
WTW
stock is still hot, soaring 27.3 percent this week after Oprah's
TV commercial
aired on social media Wednesday. WTW is currently trading at 22.57 percent, and on Wednesday shares closed at $23.05. Winfrey's emotional tweet sent the company's stock up 14 percent on Wednesday. The billionaire media mogul tweeted a 60-second video commercial that delivered a powerful message of hope for Weight Watchers. Oprah sent the tweet of her ad to over 30 million of her followers on Wednesday. Weight Watcher's ads in the past have also shown Oprah Winfrey's talks of struggle with her weight. "Inside every overweight woman is a woman she knows she can be," said Oprah, who has openly shared her personal battles. "If not now, when?," Winfrey stated. Wednesday's commercial ended with the talk queen requesting her viewers to join her. "Are you ready?," asked Winfrey. "Let's do this together," she said. The stock has more than tripled since October, at the time when Winfrey bought a 10 percent stake in the New York company. Weight Watchers had also coincided with Winfrey's investment, by announcing to expand their purpose to focus on weight loss alone. "We are expanding our purpose from focusing on weight loss alone to more broadly helping people lead a healthier, happier life," said Jim Chambers, President and CEO of Weight Watchers. Weight Watchers monthly performance stands at -12.62 percent, while its year to date performance is -7.21 percent.
