Ingersoll-Rand Company (NYSE: IR) is scheduled to report its results for the latest quarter prior to the market open. Analysts expect IR to earn $0.53 per share. IR’s shares rose 1.77% to close at $33.98 yesterday.

Power company First Energy (NYSE: FE) has placed a $4.7 billion takeover bid to purchase Allegheny Energy (NYSE: AYE). However, there are possibilities of the regulatory issues spoiling the play. While FE’s shares plunged 4.51% to close at $39.59 yesterday, AYE jumped 12.04% to close at $23.55.

Echelon (NASDAQ: ELON) suffered a downgrade at the hands of Piper Jaffray to "underweight." ELON gained 1.63% to close at $8.12 in yesterday’s trade.

Citigroup (NYSE: C) has agreed to sell its Italian credit card division to Barclays (NYSE: BCS). While C has fallen 1.25% in pre-market trading, BCS shed 5.44% to close at $16.16.
