Today's Top Small-Cap Gainers

A total of thirteen small-cap stocks registered gains of more than 10 percent on Tuesday. These names were helped, in part, by a rally in the stock market after a sharp morning decline. Stocks plunged at the open but recovered off of session lows in the first hour and a half. The market then moved higher for much of the day. Near the close of trading, the Dow was up around 65 points to 12,792. Below, Benzinga looks at the best performing small-caps on the session.

- This stock had some bizarre trading activity on Tuesday. At one point, shares plunged, before proceeding significantly higher throughout the rest of the day. At last check, ALTH had added a little less than 22% to trade near $1.74.

- This stock was strong throughout Tuesday's session, and traded up more than 21%.

- Shares climbed around 11% to $1.85 and closed near the highs of the day. Volume was heavier than normal.

- This stock is extremely thinly traded, but added around 14% to trade near $1.52 on Tuesday. Volume was around 60,000 shares compared to a 3-month average of just under 37,000.

- This stock rose throughout the trading session and closed near the highs. On the day, DEXO climbed 15.38% to $1.35.

- Shares surged after the company said that it hired Goldman Sachs to examine strategic alternatives. Near the close, the stock had added a little less than 24% to trade near $11.90.

- This ADR hardly traded any volume, but added more than 15% on the session.

- Shares gapped up and continued to climb throughout the day, closing near the highs. The stock surged almost 18% to $5.39.

- This small-cap biotech name jumped more than 10% to trade near $2.81. Volume was very heavy.

- Shares jumped more than 20% on very heavy volume and closed right at the highs of the day. Around 3 million shares traded hands compared to a 3-month average of just over 205,000.

- This company, with a market cap of around $83 million, saw its share price add almost 11% to $2.28. Volume was above average.

- This Mexican company climbed better than 11% on Tuesday. The stock, however, traded very light volume and is extremely illiquid.

- The company, which has a market cap of around $132 million, saw its shares surge nearly 24% to $1.31 on Tuesday. Volume was very heavy in the name.
