UPDATE: Bird Flu Found in the Netherlands
Reuters reported earlier today that bird flu was found in the Netherlands and the country has culled nearly 43,000 turkeys. Bird flu was found at a farm that in Kelpen-Oler, a town that borders Belgium and Germany.
The Dutch authorities have taken steps prevent the disease from spreading outside the city, but if it ends up spreading to other countries in Europe, its impact on the poultry industry might be significant. In addition, a larger scale bird flu epidemic would benefit several drug manufacturers.
