Utilities Stocks Holding Steady

The Utilities Sector is putting in a modest 0.2% gain in today's session despite a weak overall market.

The strongest names in the sector right now are:

1) NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG): Currently trading up 1.1% from yesterday's close to $24.15. The stock has lost 5.4% since setting a 52-week high of $25.54 on May 20th.

2) Pepco Holdings (NYSE: POM): Currently trading up 0.9% from yesterday's close to $19.38. The stock bounced off of its 50-day simple moving average (one year daily chart) two out of the past three trading sessions.

3) Constellation Energy Group (NYSE: CEG): Currently trading up 0.7% from yesterday's close to $36.67. The stock has been stuck in a tight consolidation pattern since April 29th.

4) Exelon (NYSE: EXC): Currently trading up 0.6% from yesterday's close to $41.69. Today, the stock's 50-day simple moving average has crossed above its 200-day simple moving average (one year daily chart) in a bullish development (Golden Cross).

5) Wisconsin Energy (NYSE: WEC): Currently trading up 0.6% from yesterday's close to $31.02. The stock bounced off of its 50-day simple moving average in today's action. Shares of Wisconsin appear to have strong support at the $30.50 level.
