A NEW AGING ‘IN PLACE' SOLUTION

“THAT TALK” WITH MOM AND DAD*

The looming senior care crisis

ActiveCare, Inc. (ACAR) $0.95 OTCBB
Market-cap $24 million

If there ever was a, “Right time. Right place. Right product.” Active Care's solution for senior care hits home like a sledgehammer on an anvil. This unknown, undiscovered and undervalued micro-cap has built a virtual high-tech platform with a multitude of comprehensive 24/7 living assistance and emergency response solutions for seniors that if the stars align could bring enormous success to this company and its shares.

America's elderly population is projected to jump by over 30 million people to over 72 million people by 2030, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Life expectancies are at all-time highs and mortality rates from diseases are dropping leading to increased longevity for all.

In the Wall Street Journal a feature article (2-23-2011) ‘The Talk' with Mom and Dad tells the story that almost all of us face with our aging parents and loved ones. It's a conversation that nobody really wants to have. The Journal article goes on to say that about 70% of people over 65 are expected to need some kind of long-term care services at some point in their lives, according to federal data. One thing for sure is that elders don't want to be “put away” any time soon.

The big picture healthcare needs of ageing seniors are on today's front burner in a population where seniors are becoming the dominant and stubbornly intractable healthcare need. Think the new Health Care bill... Oh my... So, this product line hits home for not only for those who are already infirmed, but for the millions of caregivers and their loved ones who have to deal with their ongoing aging woes and who are continually worrying about their well-being and indeed, their safety. Stories about seniors falling and being unable to move are in the news daily.

Active Care's unique products and services enable seniors to remain safely independent and residing in their own homes. In 2009 (ACAR) introduced its state of the art digital Personal Assistance Link, or PAL. I The PAL device features digital cellular, GPS, and zero gravity fall detection technology components that are fully miniaturized and fit in to a small one-button call device similar to a cell phone. It is the first and only device of its kind available today and what I think could be an effective solution that Medicare may well embrace.

ActiveCare incorporates cellular, GPS and fall detection technologies to provide a wide selection of concierge-like services for members, delivered by way of a hand-held or wearable PAL (Personal Assistance Link) device. The PAL connects ActiveCare members to the CareCenter at the touch of a button or when a fall is detected, providing immediate service and peace of mind, 24 hours a day, seven days a week – at home or on the go.

Grasp the scope of just some of ActiveCare's other high-tech wares: a sensor on the refrigerator to transmit that the door was being opened, sensors on windows to indicate use, digital cameras on doors, motion detectors at key places in the residence, a stove monitor and a sensor to transmit that the patients meds were indeed removed from the tray are just a few of (ACAR)'s home innovations. Worth noting is that per The New England Journal of Medicine 25% of hospital and nursing home admissions for aging seniors are due to failure / non compliance in taking their prescription medications as directed.

All of the sensor alerts that are generated throughout each day are remotely transmitted to a ‘brain' computer that sends them via phone line to the always available Care Specialist where the alert is evaluated, and acted on accordingly.

ActiveCare's product line of state-of-the-art high-tech products are now being rolled out through multiple retail channels, marketing programs and sales and distribution initiatives that will build awareness and adoption of their product and services. Importantly, this marketing endeavor is being orchestrated by a seasoned pro with a resume that includes experience with Procter & Gamble and Kraft Foods and who has worked closely with market retail partners, including Wal-Mart, Natures Why's, Walgreen's, CVS, Rite Aid, Target and other retailers in the food, drug, mass and warehouse club channels. Bringing its products & services to market, ActiveCare will reach consumers through direct marketing, online marketing programs and partnerships, caregiver and healthcare professional partnerships, and at retail.

I only wish that the (ACAR) comprehensive service and product line was available some years ago to provide this type of critical information to our family while my fiercely independent mother was aging. It would have given my mom and us, comfort knowing that she was okay. Obviously, the market is huge, but ActiveCare's solutions seem to me to be dramatically needed during this senior living dilemma to help extend the seniors “all important” independence.
