Surround Sound On Laptops? (DLB)

Rumors are circulating that Dolby Labs

might be releasing a major new release of surround sound technology for laptops at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 7-10.

earlier today that Dolby will likely release the fourth generation of its personal-computer software as early as today. Dolby's surround sound product will turn stereo recordings into 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, giving an impression of depth and breadth to sound. The technology would work with computer speakers or headphones. A Wedbush Securities analyst commented on the technology, “They're trying to position themselves for online media, whether it's streaming music or movies... But I don't know if that propels demand- ‘Oh my gosh, I've got to go out and get this new PC that has this 7.1 surround sound.'” If you believe this story is a catalyst for Dolby Labs or other stocks, buying the stock directly is a possibility.
