Top Online Retail Stocks Mixed On Cyber Monday
November 30, 2009 5:25 PM
Although early indications point to Cyber Monday being successful and yielding more sales than in 2008, the top online retail stocks were mixed in the day’s trading. eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) cautiously added a dollar and a quarter to close at $24.47, while Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) performed similarly, rising $4.17 to $135.91. The story was different at Dell (NASDAQ: DELL), which inched into negative territory, shedding 2 cents to end the day at $14.12.
Shares of traditional retailers, by contrast, typically traded slightly down or sideways on Monday.
“Cyber Monday” is a term dating from 2005 to refer to the first weekday after Black Friday. The latter is traditionally the heaviest shopping day of the year.
