Carolyn Everson is Facebook Inc FB's vice president for global marketing solutions and recently spoke with Bloomberg TV to discuss various marketing initiatives its Instagram property is currently examining.
Everson told Bloomberg that Instagram is looking at ways to incentive users to create more content and is considering a revenue sharing partnership.
"Content is incredibly important on Facebook and Instagram," she told Bloomberg. "We want to be a major distribution platform and we are trying to find different ways to help content producers monetize that content."
Everson pointed out that user growth on Instagram's platform is rising at a faster pace than Facebook's core platform did in its early days. As such, Instagram unveiled on Tuesday new tools that can help businesses differentiate themselves from regular consumer users to drive advertising revenue.
There are currently more than 200,000 advertisers on Instagram's platform.
"Of course we're selling the product and over time we will have potential models that could look like advertising," she said. "We have 50 programmers building content. We are selling the hardware and we will look to see if there are other monetization models."
