Really? An 11-year NBA veteran has blamed
Apple Inc.AAPL
's most infamous device for his poor shooting this past season. Matt Bonner, who has played the last nine years and won two NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs, said a bad case of tennis elbow was due to the iPhone. "Everybody is going to find this hilarious, but here's my theory on how I got it," Bonner told
Concord Monitor
. "When the new iPhone came out it was way bigger than the last one, and I think because I got that new phone it was a strain to use it, you have to stretch further to hit the buttons, and I honestly think that's how I ended up developing it." The story continued, "Before you start laughing...know that this is not unprecedented. Bonner said he spoke with one of the Spurs' strength and conditioning coaches about the injury and the coach reported that he had suffered a similar injury after spending too much time playing a game on his phone." Bonner, known for his long range and big frame, is a career 41 percent three-point shooter. He shot 36.5 percent last season, the second-worst mark of his career. "I really don't want to say that's why my percentage dipped, but I'm not too worried about it," Bonner told Concord Monitor. "I know I can still shoot." Bonner is currently an NBA free agent. His contract for the 2014-2015 season was worth $1.5 million.
