Siri Can Now Start Your Car

It can pop the trunk, too.
Of all the simplistic hacks that have come to the iPhone, this might be the most amusing one yet. According to
TechCrunch
, if you're capable of making a homebrew proxy server, you can get your Siri to start your car for you. Technologically, this isn't exciting. If you're excited, contain yourself. General Motors
GM
has been hyping its OnStar remote starter features (with an iPhone!) for quite a while now. However, Brandon Fiquett (a developer) has taken this concept one step further with Siri.
Using a PHP script that lives on his own server, Fiquett created a plugin that interacts with the script, which allows him to send commands to his Acura TL. The commands are received by his Viper SmartStart, an app that allows its users to start their cars with their phones. This is pretty cool, but it makes me wonder about something: if I lock my keys
and
my phone in my car, how loud will I have to shout for Siri to hear me say, “Unlock the doors”?
