The Company is engaged in the ownership, leasing, acquisition, disposition, development, expansion, and management of regional shopping centers and interests therein. The Company owned interests in 25 centers. The Company's businesses consist of shopping centers and entities that are controlled by ownership or contractual agreements, The Taubman Company LLC (Manager), and Taubman Properties Asia LLC and its subsidiaries (Taubman Asia). Its portfolio is concentrated in productive super-regional shopping centers. The Company competes with other real estate investors; these competitors include other REITs, investment banking firms and private and institutional investors. It has approximately 3,000 stores operated by their mall tenants under approximately 850 trade names. The centers are strategically located in metropolitan areas, many in communities that are among the affluent in the country, including Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York City, Orlando, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.
