Parkervision, Inc. was incorporated under the laws of the state of Florida on August 22, 1989. The Company is in the business of innovating fundamental wireless technologies. It designs, develops and markets its proprietary radio frequency (RF) technologies and products for use in semiconductor circuits for mobile and other wireless applications. The Company's technologies apply to both transmit and receive functions of transmitters, receivers, and transceivers as well as other related RF communications functions. A portion of its transmit technology is marketed as Direct2Power and enables the transformation of a baseband data signal to an RF carrier waveform, at the desired power output level, in a single unified operation. A portion of its receiver technology is marketed as Direct2Data and enables the direct conversion of an RF carrier to a baseband data signal. The Company's component products include I/Q demodulators and modulators based on its patented innovations, as well as certain other complimentary components. In addition, it is working with VIA-Telecom, Inc. on the continued development and marketing of RF integrated circuits that function with their baseband products for mobile handset customers. As of December 31, 2013, it had 168 U.S. and 73 foreign patents related to its RF technologies. In addition, it had approximately 39 U.S. and foreign patent applications pending.
