Mobile Telesystems PJSC was incorporated on March 1, 2000, through the merger of MTS CJSC and Rosico TC CJSC, its wholly-owned subsidiary. IT completed its initial public offering in 2000. The Company provides telecommunications services including voice and data transmission, internet access, pay TV, various value added services through wireless and fixed lines, as well as selling equipment and accessories. The Company's principal operations are located in Russia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan and Armenia. During 2004-2012 it also operated in Uzbekistan. The Company has two reportable segments, Russia and Ukraine, to effectively manage both the mobile and fixed line operations as an integrated business and to respond to the demands of its customers. The Russian reportable segment arose due to the aggregation of two similar operating segments: MTS Russia and MGTS Russia. It has four operating segments that corresponded to its countries of operations and business activities: (1) Russia, (2) Ukraine, (3) Armenia and (4) Turkmenistan, which include its mobile and fixed line communications operations in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and Turkmenistan, respectively. It offer mobile cellular voice and data communication services to its subscribers on the basis of various tariff plans designed for different market segments. In general, its tariff plans combine per minute usage charges, value-added services and, in some cases, monthly network access fees. The Company's value-added services include: Blackberry, Call Divert/Forwarding, Caller ID Display and anti-Caller ID Display, Location-Based Service (LBS), Mobile Office, etc. The Company offers GPRS services, enabling its subscribers to access the Internet, WAP and MMS in all of the countries where it operates. It also provides international data transfer roaming to its subscribers, enabling them to use various GPRS/3G based services while traveling abroad. The Company also offers the MTS-Connect service, which allows its subscribers to get mobile Internet access through a GPRS/EDGE/3G/LTE/HSDPA/HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) connection, using a computer, PC-card and USB-modem. This service is available to its subscribers in Russia and Ukraine and in more than 217 countries where it has GPRS roaming.
