The Company is a provider of government-outsourced services specializing in the management of correctional, detention and mental health facilities in the United States, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and Canada. It operates a range of correctional and detention facilities including maximum, medium and minimum-security prisons, immigration detention centers, minimum-security detention centers and mental health facilities. The Company also provides transportation services for offender and detainee populations as contracted. It's correctional and detention management services involve the provision of security, administrative, rehabilitation, education, health and food services, mainly at adult male correctional and detention facilities. The Company also develops new facilities based on contract awards, using its project development expertise and experience to design, construct and finance. The Company conducts its business through four segments: U.S. Corrections & Detention segment; GEO Care segment; International Services segment and Facility Construction & Design segment. U.S. Corrections & Detention segment encompasses U.S.-based privatized corrections and detention business. The GEO Care segment, conducts its services in the United States, represents services provided to adult offenders and juveniles for non-residential treatment, educational and community based programs, pre-release and half-way house programs, compliance technologies, monitoring services and evidence-based supervision and treatment programs for community-based parolees, probationers, and pretrial defendants. International Services segment consists of privatized corrections and detention operations in South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. Facility Construction & Design segment contracts with various states, local and federal agencies for the design and construction of facilities for which it generally has been, or expect to be, awarded management contracts. The Company competes directly with the public sector, where governmental agencies responsible for the operation of correctional, detention, youth services, community based services and re-entry facilities are often seeking to retain projects that might otherwise be privatized.
