The Brink's Co is based in Richmond, Virginia, was founded in Chicago on May 5, 1859. The Company is a provider of secure transportation, cash management services and other security-related services to banks and financial institutions, retailers, government agencies, mints, jewelers and other commercial operations around the world. The Company has four geographic operating segments: Latin America; Europe, Middle East and Africa; North America and Asia Pacific. The primary services of the reportable segments include: Cash-in-Transit Services, armored vehicle transportation of valuables; ATM Services, replenishing and maintaining customers' automated teller machines providing network infrastructure services; Global Services, secure international transportation of valuables; Cash Management Services, managing supply chain of cash from point-of-sale through bank deposit; Payment Services, bill payment and processing services on behalf of utility companies and other billers at any of its Brink's or Brink's operated payment locations in Latin America; Security and Guarding Services, protection of airports, offices, and certain other locations in Europe with or without electronic surveillance, access control, fire prevention and trained patrolling personnel. The Company's international network serves customers in more than 100 countries. Its operations include approximately 1,000 facilities and 12,700 vehicles. The Company competes with large multinational, regional and smaller companies throughout the world. Its largest multinational competitors are G4S plc (U.K.); Loomis AB (Sweden); Prosegur, Compania de Seguridad, S.A. (Spain); and Garda World Security Corporation. The Company's U.S. operations are subject to regulation by the U.S. Department of Transportation with respect to safety of operations, equipment and financial responsibility. Intrastate operations in the U.S. are subject to state regulation. Operations outside of the United States are regulated to varying degrees by the countries in which it operates.
