In a space where charting platforms either carry a hefty price tag or severely underperform, a new platform could be welcome reprieve. ChartIQ is trying to fill that gap by offering professional-grade charting and a technical analysis toolset that works seamlessly across the desktop, web, tablet and smartphone.

Benzinga recently interviewed Dan Schleifer, president and co-founder of Fintech Awards Contender ChartIQ, about the charting platform and what led him to develop the company.

Why ChartIQ?

“I started ChartIQ about two and a half, three years ago with my co-founder. [We] set out to really kind of change a dynamic in the marketplace for individual investors and individual traders: to give people access to professional grade charting and technical analysis tools regardless of who they were, what budget they have and what device they were on,” Schleifer said.

What Needs Does ChartIQ Meet?

“So, when we looked at the marketplace a couple of years ago, if you wanted professional quality charting tools and to be able to visualize data, you had Bloomberg and then everything was kind of a step or two down from there and obviously the average or individual investor, even a person like myself can’t afford the same kind of professional grade tools,” Schleifer said.

“We really wanted to build a technology stack that allowed us to take that technology out to every single trader and investor, but also not just work on PCs, but work on Macs, work on iPad, work on Android devices.”

Has ChartIQ Raised Any Capital?

“We actually bootstrapped the company and have been operating effectively off revenues for the past couple of years, which is pretty incredible in the startup space,”

Schleifer boasted.

“We did get some very early seed stage money from […] Howard Lindzon of StockTwits fame and just actually quite recently we raised some outside capital.”
