TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) - As the quest for the Stanley Cup(R) heats up among NHL(R) teams, Canadian amateur hockey teams are on a mission of their own to bring home hockey's Holy Grail! The Team Up and Bring Home the Cup(TM) contest received hundreds of entries from amateur hockey teams across Canada, and it's now up to Canadians to decide which team is most deserving of the ultimate grand prize - a chance to hang out with the NHL Stanley Cup and Mark Messier.

From coast to coast, Canadian amateur hockey teams showed their passion for the sport in one of the following ways: 1) a video, 2) a photo and a minimum 250-word essay or 3) a minimum 250-word essay. The contest entry phase has officially closed, and now each entered team must compete for the highest number of Canadian votes to Bring Home the Cup.

"The team that brings home the Cup this year will need to generate enormous support from their community," says Mark Messier. "So far I've been to the Ottawa Valley, Summerside, P.E.I. and St-Lazare, Quebec. It's now up to Canadians to decide where I'll be with the Stanley Cup next!"

The Team Up and Bring Home the Cup(TM) contest encourages amateur hockey teams to 'team up', put their heads together and be creative about why their team is the most deserving to meet Mark Messier and host the NHL(R) Stanley Cup in their town.

"Teams will compete for Canada's votes starting March 22 until April 17," said Tony Matta, Vice President of Marketing, Frito Lay Canada. "Every Canadian who votes could have the chance to win a trip to a 2010 Stanley Cup(TM) Final game!"

All team submissions are posted online at TSN.ca/TeamUp and RDS.ca/Faitesequipe. During the voting period (March 22 - April 17, 2010), Canadians are allowed to vote once per hour for their favourite team.

"Pepsi(R), Lay's(R) and Gatorade(R) are excited to see how teams will get creative and promote themselves during the voting phase," said Dale Hooper, Vice President of Marketing, PepsiCo Beverages Canada. "It's a great way for communities to come together across Canada, show their passion for the game of hockey and share their team stories with the rest of the country."

The amateur hockey team that receives the most votes will take home the grand prize, which includes - 1) a visit from Mark Messier and the NHL Stanley Cup, 2) a Team Up and Bring Home The Cup(TM) party and 3) the possibility of a team feature segment on TSN.

For official contest rules and to vote for an amateur hockey team in the Team Up and Bring Home The Cup(TM) contest, visit TSN.ca/TeamUp or RDS.ca/Faitesequipe.
