In the report, the analyst notes:
“Total revenues for the third quarter 2009 were $2.9 million, compared to $8.9 million reported for the third quarter in 2008. The decline in total revenues for the third quarter was primarily due to a decrease in collaboration revenue following the termination of the Merck & Co. Inc. collaboration for HEPLISAV. Total revenues were $38.1 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2009, compared to $25.1 million for the same period in 2008.
“DVAX recently announced data from two studies that differentiate SD-101 from standard-of-care as well as emerging treatments for chronic HCV infection. The findings of a Phase 1b clinical trial and an in vitro study of SD-101's mechanism of action show that the second-generation TLR9 agonist (1) is well tolerated and safe and (2) induces both IFN-lambda and IFN-alpha at concentrations producing antiviral activity. The data will be presented at the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver in Vienna, Austria, in April 2010.”
