Leading thinkers to discuss diversity as a competitive advantage, outline actions to drive it during exclusive forum at premier global commerce event

Diversity and inclusion are two very powerful words. And when many people hear them, they think of two other words: human resources. But diversity isn't just "an HR thing," it's a competitive advantage. According to a study from Northwestern and BYU, diverse groups of people consistently outperform and are considered more effective than homogenous ones. Next month, SAP Ariba will host an exclusive forum where leading thinkers will gather to discuss the role that diversity can play in fueling business innovation and outline actions that companies can take to drive it. The event will take place during SAP Ariba Live, the premier business commerce conference that kicks off March 5 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

"To succeed in today's hypercompetitive world, businesses have to innovate and differentiate. And diversity is the key to doing both," said Tifenn Dano Kwan, Chief Marketing Officer, SAP Ariba. "The best ideas come not from teams that look, think and act alike, but from diverse groups with differing backgrounds and opinions. And our goal is to inspire companies to form them and watch their businesses flourish."

Hosted by Julie Gerdeman, Head of the Digital Transformation Organization at SAP Ariba, the Diversity & Leadership Forum will feature champions of diversity who will share their insights and stories of success in driving it, including:

  • Yassmin Abdel-Magied - best-selling author, renowned speaker and advocate for the empowerment of youth, women and those from racially, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Anka Wittenberg, SVP, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Head of People Sustainability, SAP SE, which has been named to Fortune's 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity list, and designated by the Human Rights Campaign as a top workplace for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality four years running.

Attendees will also be able to participate in three unique breakout sessions focused on leading for gender equality, driving change through diversity and inclusion and the future of leadership in procurement.

"Diversity is the key to unlocking totally new ways of doing things that can transform the way we live and work," Gerdeman said. "And companies that embrace it can not only propel their businesses forward, but make the world a better place."

Space for this exclusive event is limited. Register for SAP Ariba Live today to reserve your place.
