It is estimated that the gaming industry will be worth ca. USD 465 million in 2017 (compared to USD 194 million in 2014). Manufacturers are introducing innovative products to keep up with the growing demand for e-sport related products. Specialized supplements are one such product. Based on pharmaceutical research, a mix of ingredients can help gamers achieve better results. So far, this type of supplementation has been used mainly by professional gamers, now it is available to everyone.

Piotr Szychowski, Chief Gaming Officer at CFX, a company that just launched "CFX The Pro Gamer", one of the first dedicated e-sport supplements in the world, says that the product was created in close cooperation with neurobiologists from the University of Warsaw (Poland), but the idea was first discussed with gamers.

"We talked to gamers and asked them what problems they face while playing. They mentioned fatigue, lack of concentration, strained eyes. We asked scientists to develop a formula that would help overcome the inconveniences of prolonged gaming, as well as ensure additional benefits. A product that improves memory, reflexes, eyesight and increases immunity." Szychowski says. "Equally important is the fact that the ingredients are selected by neurobiologists to ensure the effects of one do not counteract or neutralize the advantages of another," he adds.

CFX the Pro Gamer is based on 12 main ingredients, such as yerba mate extract, anhydrous caffeine and L-glutamine, magnesium, which has a regenerative effect, vitamin C, ginkgo biloba (maidenhair tree extract, which improves blood circulation) and the eyesight improving marigold extract.

The development of the market of dietary supplements for computer gamers is no surprise for Adam Brysz, European Vice-Champion in Judo and a dietitian. "From a dietary point of view, the brain is an equally demanding ‘muscle' as any other. To maintain high concentration for prolonged periods of time, we need to take in appropriate vitamins, magnesium or potassium."

It is estimated that there are over 1.7 billion computer gamers around the world today. In 2014, their number was estimated at 827 million in Asia (with China being the leader), 569 million in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 195 million in North America and 185 million in South America. The number of e-sports professionals, teams and leagues is growing rapidly, as is the number of tournaments offering gamers an opportunity to test their skills.
