A renowned researcher, social entrepreneur, and advocate, Dr. Burnight served as a Professor of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the University of California, Irvine for 17 years. Burnight is the Co-Founder and Director of the nation's first Elder Abuse Forensic Center who leads a team of attorneys, law enforcement officers, social workers, and physicians who wrestle with the county's most difficult cases of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Together they have served over 1,300 older adults. Burnight is also the founder of Ageless Alliance: United Against Elder Abuse. This national non-profit organization is about, and for, elder abuse victims, survivors, and their families. Burnight was recognized for her work by the Department of Justice with the U.S. Victims of Crime Award and has appeared on the Dr. Phil Show, Money Matters, and CBS news. In 2014, she was voted OC Register 's Most Influential Person in Orange County for her work in addressing the needs of older Americans and their families.
