Customers are encouraged to visit participating SUBWAY® sandwich shops and purchase Dasani® water. For every bottle sold before August 31, 2016, SUBWAY® will donate 30 cents – enough to supply clean drinking water to one person for one month.
SUBWAY® has committed to a total donation of $125,000.
Individuals may also donate directly at www.freshwater4all.com, and Tweet their participation using #igavecleanwater.
SUBWAY® is partnering with World Vision, the largest nongovernmental provider of clean water. It focuses on providing clean water and sanitation to the hardest-to-reach places around the world.
The $125,000 pledged allows World Vision to work with partners in Kenya to construct a solar-powered water system providing clean water for 1,600-plus people.
Nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from contaminated water, poor sanitation and improper hygiene.
2,220 SUBWAY® sandwich shops are participating in these markets:
- Indiana: Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend, Terre Haute
- Ohio: Toledo, Lima
- Kentucky: Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green
- Maryland: Baltimore
- North Carolina: Greenville, Wilmington
