Computerworld Announces the 2016 Best Places to Work in IT

FRAMINGHAM, MA --(Marketwired - June 13, 2016) - Computerworld -- the leading IT media brand dedicated to being the voice of business technology -- is proud to announce the 2016 Best Places to Work in IT list (Click here to tweet). The Computerworld editorial team compiled this exhaustive list based on a comprehensive questionnaire focused on organization offerings such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention, as well as a worker satisfaction survey completed by a random sampling of IT employees at the participating organizations. The 100 winning organizations were then categorized by company size based on the number of employees (large, midsize, small).

Anatomy of a Top 100 Organization
The annual survey highlights symmetry between the benefits that are important to IT employees and what organizations offer. The top five benefits that IT teams most appreciate are health insurance, paid time off, 401k/403b plans or profit sharing, flexible hours, and bonuses. Organizations are aligned, with 100% offering health insurance, paid time off and 401k/403b plans, 48% profit sharing, 97% flexible hours, and 84% of organizations have set aside dollars for bonuses for tech employees in 2016.

Organizations are also showing an investment in technology beyond personal benefits and salaries. Technology is constantly transforming, and to keep up organizations spend on average $1,884 per IT employee on training. This additional knowledge is not going unnoticed; an average of 11.7% of IT staff were promoted in the past fiscal year. IT organizations anticipate growth in 2017, with 65% of organizations looking to increase U.S.-based headcount.

The locations of the 2016 winning companies may come as a surprise. The South Atlantic is home to 31% of winning organizations, followed by North Central (25%), which is a growing hot area for tech jobs and good employers like Quicken Loans (No. 1 large) and Credit Acceptance (No. 1 midsize).
