Air Force veteran and Realtor Spencer Mamber, of RE/MAX Southeast, lists the top three tips on why military veterans should find a Realtor that is also a vet.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 27, 2016

Realtor, pilot and Air Force Vietnam veteran Spencer Mamber has been helping people realize their dream of homeownership for more than a decade. "Buying a home is one of the biggest purchases in a person's life, whether they are a civilian or a veteran," said Mamber, who spent nearly nine years as an Air Force pilot. "However, for military personnel, of which approximately 200,000 transition from service back to civilian life every year, having a Realtor who is also a veteran has distinct advantages."

For veterans looking to buy a home, Mamber lists the following three tips on why hiring a Realtor that is also a veteran is beneficial:

No. 1: Understanding of the VA loan. "The VA loan has some unique requirements, of which a Realtor that is a veteran will have a thorough understanding," said Mamber. "For example, the Department of Veterans Affairs established a set of minimum property requirements (MPRs) to ensure all homes purchased by veterans are safe, sanitary and structurally sound. A Realtor that knows what the MPRs are can be a valuable asset when doing a walk-through, and can point out any possible MPR issues before a decision to buy a home is made."

No. 2: A passion for serving those who have served. Realtors who have served know the importance of finding a home once transitioned into civilian life, and will go out of their way to find the best deal for a fellow veteran as they care about their well-being and helping vets have a smooth transition. "These people are heroes and not only deserve our gratitude, but assistance in finding one of life's basic necessities: a home," said Mamber, founder of Veterans Helping Veterans, which helps vets find housing and acquire proper loans. "In fact, 75% of military service members say owning a home is one of the most important things upon returning from service."

No. 3: Affordable options. Realtors who are veterans are known to only show fellow veterans houses they can afford, and refrain from high-pressure closing tactics. "Transitioning veterans are usually on tight budgets, and a fellow vet that is a Realtor will work extra hard with them to not only find an affordable house, but one they actually love," said Mamber.
