Career and Technical Education Conference at Milton Hershey School Sparks National Dialogue about Future of CTE

Experts addressed CTE advancements and challenges

HERSHEY, Pa. (PRWEB) April 14, 2016

Recently, Milton Hershey School® in partnership with Opportunity America, a nationally recognized Washington D.C. think tank and policy shop which promotes economic mobility, hosted a conference on Career and Technical Education: Taking it to the Next Level.

"At Milton Hershey School, we have an award-winning Career and Technical Education program focused on giving our students authentic work experiences through partnerships with area businesses," MHS President Pete Gurt '85 said. "The conference provided an opportunity for us to share the success of our effective model with teachers and business professionals."

The conference brought experts, educators, government officials and policymakers from across the U.S. for discussion on cutting-edge advancements and challenges facing Career and Technical Education.

Panelists included television personality John Stossel, CTE experts Nancy Hoffman from Jobs for the Future and James R. Stone III from the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education, educators, and government officials including U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent and U.S. Rep. G.T. Thompson. Several leading CTE scholars and researchers also participated, including: Gary Hoachlander of ConnectEd, Anne Stanton from the National Academy Foundation and Hans Meeder from the National Center for College and Career Transitions (NC3T), among others.
