Milton Hershey School Students Raise $101,244 Toward Four Diamonds Fund

Second annual Milton Hershey School Mini-THON a success

HERSHEY, Pa. (PRWEB) March 14, 2016

Milton Hershey School® recently held its second annual Mini-THON, hosted by the Student Government Association. Students raised $101,244.16 toward the Four Diamonds Foundation exceeding their goal of $100,000.

"Over the last few months, our students worked incredibly hard to raise donations for the families of children battling cancer," MHS President Pete Gurt '85 said. "I'm very proud of our students who are active contributors to society and give back to others just like our school's Founders."

More than 600 MHS students participated in Mini-THON, joining hundreds of others schools that participate. Students spend the 12-hour event calculating donations, listening to cancer survivors stories and celebrating their success.

"There are truly no words to say how proud and thankful I feel to belong to such an amazing community," SGA President Amanda Dayton said. "I'm so proud of all the hard work we've done together as a student body and what we were able to accomplish."

All of the money raised benefits the Four Diamonds Fund which provides families of children battling cancer financial assistance at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Each year, Four Diamonds offers direct support to approximately 600 children with cancer – 100 who are newly diagnosed and 500 who are continuing their fight.

"When we come together as a group we are able to achieve so much," said MHS junior Elijah Conniff. "And when we come together with a common vision and mission, it's incredible what we can do."
