GetApp's Q1 2016 rankings put Wrike on top in 4 software categories

(PRWEB) January 16, 2016

Cloud-based business apps marketplace GetApp has released its Q1 2016 rankings of the top project management and planning solutions in four new categories: project management, project portfolio management, project collaboration, and task management. Crowd favorite Wrike topped the list at number one in all four categories, with likely contenders Insightly, Trello, dapulse, Slack, and Liquid Planner making up the top three in all categories.

This is the first project management ranking from GetApp since it launched its ranking program, GetRank in April 2015. GetRank is aimed at small and medium-sized business owners looking to make a first assessment of cloud-based project management software for their company.

The ranking is based on five unique data points including user reviews, integrations, mobile app availability, media presence, and security.

User-generated reviews and integrations are calculated using data listed on GetApp, while security scores come from vendor responses to a security survey based on the Cloud Security Alliance Self-Assessment Form. Mobile platform data is captured from Google Play and the Apple App Store, while media scores are calculated using the number of Facebook followers and Twitter fans a vendor has.

Each data point is scored out of 20 for a total possible score out of 100. Wrike had high scores overall, but it outshined the competition when it came to reviews, being awarded a full 20 points in all 3 categories for having over 100 reviews with an average 4.4/5 rating. Trello scored highly for having the best-rated Android and iOS apps, as well as being the most popular project management app on social media with just shy of 100,000 Twitter followers.

Other notable mentions include JIRA, which ranked 7th in project portfolio management but had the highest number of integrations with over 68 app integrations listed on GetApp. Planbox Work, which ranked 18th in three categories, nabbed the highest security score.

Consulting with Software Advice's Project Management research manager John Leslie, he notes that "mobile apps are becoming increasingly important in today's software landscape. It's critical that in 2016, programs work on whichever device people choose to use. This often requires good UX design, which the best PM software providers are choosing to invest in."
