Cadillac, Michigan (PRWEB) January 06, 2016

President Obama's new gun control executive action prompted BlueWare's CEO, Rose Harr, to provide licensing for two of the company's most prized health information software products at no cost to Healthcare Agencies, Government Agencies, and all others who conduct background checks for gun control.

According to Healthcare IT News, Obama's changes "will enable providers to show the identities of patients subject to a federal mental health prohibitor for gun possession." This means there will be health information, which is protected by HIPAA law, shared with law enforcement agencies. There is a proper way to go about this and BlueWare's software can make it easy and keep it HIPAA compliant.

Rose is eager to support this initiative. She is willing to drop the licensing fees for both Wellness Connection and BestData, two of the company's health information technology products, in an attempt to ease the tension and facilitate the process of checking the Mental Health records of potential gun owners. "It's the right thing to do," said Rose.

BlueWare has been providing healthcare IT solutions for over 30 years. Their software is being used by over 200 hospitals in the United States and England. Their Wellness Connection software has over one million patient records residing in it's database. It was initially deployed during the onset of the HIPAA law in the 1990's and has proven to be secure and reliable. Rose stated, "The software designers and programmers are continually improving the software as privacy and security laws change."

President Obama's executive action will help tighten rules on background checks for gun ownership and potentially "save some lives," according to the President. He spoke emotionally about the recent mass shootings in this country, including the 2012 Connecticut Elementary School shooting. The idea of gun violence touches us all to the core and something needs to be done. Obama is trying to cut out "gun show loopholes" that are currently allowing the mentally ill and possible criminals to obtain weapons easily and legally.

"In the past decade, more than 100,000 people have died as a result of gun violence. Many of these crimes were committed by people who never should have been able to purchase a gun in the first place" said President Obama.

"BlueWare's software can help make background checking easy and secure. We have a deep understanding of health information governance and the HIPAA law. We look forward to helping create a safer world through the use of technology." said Kaitlin Welliver VP of BlueWare.
