PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The HomePlug® Alliance (www.homeplug.org), the worldwide industry group for powerline communications networking, today announced that a full line of products with HomePlug AV2 technology providing whole-home Wi-Fi coverage without dead spots is now available at Best Buy. The products are marketed under the name "DST," or Dead Spot Terminator.

The recently launched NETGEAR Nighthawk DST AC1900 Wireless-AC Gigabit Router with DST Adapter is available exclusively at Best Buy stores and online. The solution combines Wi-Fi 802.11ac and embedded HomePlug AV2 technology within the router and DST wireless extender. In addition to one DST wireless extender included in the kit, customers may purchase additional DST wireless extenders (up to eight) as needed to ensure maximum connectivity to additional areas of the home.

Customers also receive set-up and one year of support from Best Buy's Geek Squad with the purchase of the NETGEAR Nighthawk DST solution. "Everyone knows the pain of slow network speeds, limited range and lack of help when we need it most, yet we tend to ignore the care and feeding of our routers," said Sean Stephens, senior director of Geek Squad Services at Best Buy. "By combining Wireless-AC and HomePlug AV2 technology with easily accessible support, we are looking to provide customers with the best whole-home networking available."

These DST products are the latest entries in Best Buy's growing portfolio of home networking solutions, including more than 20 products with HomePlug technology. Best Buy currently carries HomePlug AV and HomePlug AV2 powerline networking devices from Actiontec, Amped Wireless, Blossom, Monster, NETGEAR and TP-LINK.

"HomePlug is pleased to see this rollout of HomePlug AV2 technology from CE retail leader Best Buy," said HomePlug Alliance President Rob Ranck. "By offering a hybrid solution with next-generation wired and wireless technologies, customers are able to enjoy whole-home connectivity for high-demand applications, such as streaming 4k Ultra HD video and online gaming, with greater ease of installation."
