To better serve U.S. veterans in need of assistance, the nationwide law firm has brought on board a lawyer who was instrumental in changing Agent Orange Laws.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) October 19, 2015

On October 15, 2015, Hill and Ponton announced that Retired Naval Commander John Wells is now Of Counsel to Hill & Ponton. His focus will be as a subject area expert in toxic exposure cases, specifically Agent Orange, for veterans seeking VA service connected disability benefits. Not only has Commander Wells already served his country in the U.S. Navy, but he also performed vital work in Washington D.C. with the U.S. Congress that has helped change laws relating to the VA presumption of exposure to Agent Orange of the Navy and Coast Guard Veterans (Blue Water veterans) who served in the Vietnam Territorial Seas. Thanks in part to his efforts, these Blue Water veterans throughout the country may now receive VA service connected compensation from disabilities resulting from exposure to Agent Orange.

"I'm looking forward to working with Hill & Ponton on Agent Orange veteran issues. I think this will be a great partnership that will benefit disabled veterans in the future. We have finally been able to get VA to concede that Blue Water veterans were exposed to Agent Orange just as the veterans that served on land. Now I look forward to working with Hill & Ponton to get these veterans the compensation that they deserve," Commander Wells said.

Hill & Ponton is a disability law firm established in 1986 and serves veterans nationwide. Since that time, the firm has helped thousands clients all over the country. The firm specializes in disability compensation cases, focusing on toxic exposure claims — such as Agent Orange — PTSD claims, TBI claims and Individual Unemployability claims.

Commander Wells joined the Navy in 1972, was commissioned in 1973, and retired in 1994 with the rank of commander and a degree in law. In the decades since, Commander Wells has practiced military and veterans law throughout the country, while also gaining expertise on diverse sections of U.S. law, including civil rights law, tort law, federal administrative law, contract law, and more.

In addition, he also serves as the Executive Director of Military Veterans Advocacy and former Director of Legal and Legislative Affairs with the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association. He has testified before Congress numerous times on Blue Water Agent Orange issues.

Now, Commander Wells will bring his technical background and personal insight to Hill and Ponton, which focuses on providing legal representation for veterans and others living with disabilities.

"John has been instrumental in helping Blue Water veterans get access to service connected compensation. We are excited to utilize his expertise and give veterans the best representation to get the full compensation that they deserve. Because getting VA to admit that these disabilities are service connected is just the first step. We want to make sure that they receive the proper amount of compensation," said Hill and Ponton Managing Partner Matthew Hill.

During his distinguished legal career, Commander Wells has represented clients in federal courts, courts-martial, and before the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is admitted to practice in various states and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.

Commander Wells is also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve Association, Military Officers Association of America, and the United States Naval Institute.
