TEMISCAMING, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 9, 2015) - Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise local residents and boaters that access to the boat launch located on Long Sault Island will be closed from October 13, 2015, to May 15, 2016. The closure of the boat launch is necessary to conduct work related to the Timiskaming Ontario Dam Replacement Project.

An alternate existing boat launch, located in Thorne, Ontario, approximately 1 km south of Long Sault Island along Highway 63, will remain open. This site has been updated to improve the boat launch area. Signage has been installed to direct people to the alternate location.

Health and safety is a top priority for PWGSC during this project. PWGSC encourages users to exercise caution when using the boat access on the island close to the construction zone.

For more information on the project, please consult the PWGSC web Site.
