Palliative care in COPD published by Dove Medical Press

This review analyzes the challenges and the available data regarding palliative care applied to the COPD population and proposes an alternative approach to address the unmet needs of patients with COPD with proactive primary palliative care.

The International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease has published the review "Palliative Care in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: An Unmet Area for Quality Improvement".

As corresponding author Dr Julia Vermylen says "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and yet, the majority of patients with COPD currently die with unmet needs and without access to Palliative Medicine."
