CostumeBox release exclusive new Book Week costume collection for 2015

A new range of costumes from CostumeBox.com.au brings literary characters to life for Book Week 2015. The Australia-wide event is organised by The Childrens Book Council of Australia and is now in its 70th Year. The week of festivities will be celebrated by schools around the country from 22nd -29th August and culminates in a dress-up day at many primary schools. In response to the demand for book-related costumes the successful online retailer has just released an exclusive new collection that includes Roald Dahl's iconic characters, exclusive new designs of Where's Wally and Where's Wenda costumes for students and teachers, and memorable characters from the popular Horrible Histories series written by Terry Deary.

The range is showing signs of early success, with some lines selling out almost immediately. Roald Dahl characters such as Matilda, the BFG, the Twits and Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are in high demand. Historical figures from the Horrible Histories series including kings and queens, executioners, Vikings and gladiators are predicted to be a hit with young fans of the funny and informative books. The ever-popular Where's Wally and Where's Wenda are given new life with CostumeBox's own exclusive detailed design for kids and adults that come complete with the iconic glasses and beanie.

Launched earlier this month, the collection offers an alternative for parents who want to support the spirit of Book Week dress-up day, but are simply too busy to make a costume from scratch. The new range is available online, alongside perennial classic costumes such as Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and the characters from the Wizard of Oz.

The introduction of the new ranges was spearheaded by the company's Head Buyer; Fiona Featherstone. Having two primary school aged boys herself, Featherstone is keenly aware of the dilemma that faces many parents when it comes to choosing Book Week costumes, and the lack of appropriate options for kids wanting to dress up as book characters. "Each year we work hard to source a bigger and better range of actual book-related character costume ideas for Book Week customers," says Featherstone. "In previous years we have sold so many movie and computer game characters for Book Week and this has inspired us to offer a better range of purely literary-derived characters for kids to choose from."

For CostumeBox.com.au, this is another in a series of innovations that have made the company a market leader since its launch in 2007. An unlikely meeting in an obstetrician's waiting room turned Nikki Yeaman and Roma Burke from strangers, to friends, to joint directors of a company that now enjoys an annual turnover of well into eight figures. After humble beginnings storing just a few hundred costumes in a rented garage, the company has expanded rapidly and now occupies a sizeable office space and warehouse on Sydney's Northern Beaches and employs more than 30 fulltime staff. CostumeBox is Australia's largest online costume retailer and this year expects to despatch over 20,000 costumes Australia-wide for Book Week.
