The City of Sunny Isles Beach offers a wide variety of programs and day trips each season for adults and seniors from Golden Era Movies to art and music classes, from bus trips to see Broadway shows, to excursions for shopping at the outlet malls. Classes are taught by seasoned instructors and trips are reasonably priced with transportation included.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach offers a wide variety of programs and day trips each season for adults and seniors from Golden Era Movies to art and music classes, from bus trips to see Broadway shows, to excursions for shopping at the outlet malls. Classes are taught by seasoned instructors and trips are reasonably priced with transportation included.

Cultural Trips coming up early in the next season include Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets (Sunday, September 6; bus leaves at 12:15pm) at Marlins Park and Promises, Promises (Sunday, September 27; bus leaves at 1:00pm) at the Stage Door Theatre in Margate. Tickets include transportation to and from the venue. Marlins tickets are only $33 for residents and Promises, Promises are $42 for residents. Remember, residents may sign up as early as August 10 for fall trips, non-residents by August 24.

The next Golden Era Movie will be offered on Tuesday, September 8 in the multi-purpose room at Pelican Community Park (18115 North Bay Road). Residents may enjoy a movie and light lunch at no cost; however reservations, in person at either Pelican Community Park or SIB Government Center, are required. Non-residents pay a nominal fee of $5 per person.

English as a second language is offered on two levels twice a week at Pelican Community Park. Beginner classes are held Saturdays from 9-11:00am and advanced students may study from 6:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday evenings. An experienced instructor takes the class through the interactive curriculum which includes on-line and supplemental pages. 8 weeks for Community Center Members is $60 and for non-members $90.

Acrylic and watercolor art classes are offered at Pelican Community Park with the new session beginning Wednesday, September 16 for acrylics and Friday, September 18 for watercolor. Very reasonably priced at $75 for members, this class is a great value for 12 weeks of professional instruction.
