Greenberg Traurig, LLP has expanded its Government Law & Policy practice in Atlanta with the addition of Chuck McMullen, Tharon Johnson and Blake Ashbee. The bipartisan group of professionals, who were previously with McKenna Long & Aldridge, will focus their practice on state and local government affairs.

McMullen joins Greenberg Traurig as Senior Director. He brings extensive experience in both the private and public sector. He served as senior managing director at McKenna Long & Aldridge, LLP and Chief of Staff to Georgia's first Republican Senate Majority Leader, U.S. Representative Dr. Tom Price. McMullen represents clients and their interests at both the state and local level in Georgia, with a focus on the areas of Energy, Health Care and Information Technology.

Johnson joins the firm as Director. Having served in senior positions throughout all levels of government, Johnson focuses his practice on government affairs at the state and local levels. Johnson was the National Southern Regional Director for the 2012 Obama For America campaign, leading the presidential re-election campaign for 11 southern states, including the key battleground states of Florida and North Carolina. Previously, he was Senior Adviser to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, after serving as Senior Strategist and Campaign Manager for Reed's 2009 Atlanta Mayoral race. He is also the former District Director and Campaign Manager for Congressman John Lewis. Johnson advises private and public sector clients on their public policy strategies.

Ashbee will be Of Counsel. He was previously appointed by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal to serve as Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Development (GOWD) where he oversaw workforce investment activities and spearheaded Georgia's skilled trade initiative-Go Build Georgia. Prior to that, he served Governor Deal's administration as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Counsel. He has worked as a leader for legislative, grassroots public affairs, and marketing campaigns in the public and private sector, and served in senior advisory roles to members of U.S. Congress and at the U.S. Department of Energy.
