White House names Champions of Change for Precision Medicine: CareSync COO Recognized

CareSync proudly announces today that Amy Gleason, Chief Operating Officer and well-known patient advocate, will be recognized by the White House as a "Champion of Change" for Precision Medicine on Wednesday, July 8th.

Part of the newly-launched President's Precision Medicine Initiative, the Champions of Change program recognizes Gleason and eight other extraordinary individuals who are making great strides in research and technology to make individualized treatments a reality for everybody.

Amy began her career in nursing and quickly discovered her passion for technology as a way to solve problems in healthcare. She spent years building and implementing electronic medical records and practice management technologies to fix inefficiencies for healthcare providers, but in June 2010, when her daughter Morgan was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder, her eyes were opened to an entirely new set of challenges in the healthcare system.

In her new role as caregiver, Amy recognized that she was ultimately responsible for coordinating Morgan's care. Not satisfied with a "one size fits all" approach to treatment, Amy gathered medical records from all of Morgan's providers to build a comprehensive health story.

The records collection was tedious, complicated, expensive, and overwhelming. The result was thousands of sheets of paper that were not easy to share. Amy believed there must be a better way for people to own their health data and participate in their care.

As a founding member of the CareSync team, Amy's experiences helped create a solution that puts the patient at the center of their care, equips them with their health data, and gives them the tools to share that information effortlessly with the people who need it.
