Stop Hunger Now continues to provide disaster relief to Kathmandu, Nepal in response to the devastation as a result of the recent 7.9 magnitude earthquake. Duke University Nursing Students Without Boarders have partnered with local brewery Fullsteam to raise relief funds through 10% Tuesday the month of July to benefit Stop Hunger Now's Nepal relief fund.

Durham, NC (PRWEB) July 03, 2015

Nursing Students Without Borders is a student led organization within Duke Nursing School that works to promote health empowerment through volunteer efforts in education, hands-on patient care, building networks to access health care resources as well as distributing collected materials to local, regional and international communities. Nursing Students Without Borders aims to expand the perspectives and experiences of current nursing students and alumni.

The Nursing Students Without Borders (NSWB) executive committee is partnering with Stop Hunger Now at Fullsteam Brewery for their new pilot program called 10% Tuesdays, in which Fullsteam will donate 10% of beer profits sold on Tuesday nights throughout the month of July to the selected organization. NSWB's Nepal fundraiser will be the featured cause for the month of July.

Nepal relief efforts are special to the Duke NSWB team. Co-President Kelsey Renning has spent time in Nepal and knew she would be involved in the relief efforts. "I panicked for the people I had met and friends I had made, their families and friends, their lives destroyed," Renning recalls. "People starving in tent cities in the streets, fearing the aftershocks. I had an overwhelming desire to help, quickly deflated by the helplessness and confusion of not knowing where to start. We decided to partner with local non-profit Stop Hunger Now and support their disaster relief efforts in Nepal." Renning concludes, "I am grateful to the Duke community and Durham community at large for the support of this important and personally meaningful cause."

The benefit will take place Tuesdays in July (July 7, 14, 21, 28) from 4pm-midnight at Fullsteam Brewery at 726 Rigsbee Ave, Durham, NC 27701. The event is open to the public.

"Stop Hunger Now actively seeks to bolster and recognize the young leaders of tomorrow who are working hard to change their worlds today," says Chessney Barrick Pullen, Director of Communication and Cause Marketing. "Volunteerism empowers and shapes the adults that children will become. Adults who are active in social justice issues have often participated in service projects in their youth. The community and common good are advanced long-term when children discover that one person truly can make a difference."

For more than 17 years, Stop Hunger Now has been creating a movement to end hunger. More than 200,000,000 meals have been packaged and distributed along with other aid to 67 countries, impacting millions of lives. The organization is driven by a mission to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world's most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

The Stop Hunger Now meal packaging program was created to give dedicated individuals the opportunity to participate in a hands-on international hunger relief program and to become educated, engaged advocates for the world's poor and hungry. In 2014, Stop Hunger Now and its global affiliates packaged 50.6 million meals.
