New Orleans' Only Business Accelerator Exclusively for Veterans Issues a Call for Applications

New Orleans, La. (PRWEB) July 01, 2015

Today VetLaunch, New Orleans' only accelerator dedicated to helping veterans effectively transition from military to civilian life, has opened applications for its fall 2015 program. To kick off its second entrepreneurial season, the non-profit organization is hosting a gala on July 19th at the WWII Museum's Boeing Freedom Pavilion. The event will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Operation Red Wings, paying tribute to LT. Michael P Murphy and all the men who paid the ultimate sacrifice in that operation.

The gala, benefitting VetLaunch and several other veteran-focused causes, will include a screening of the film MURPH: The Protector, a documentary based on the honor, courage and commitment of Navy SEAL LT Michael P. Murphy, who gave his life for his men during Operation Red Wings. Following the screening, the audience can participate in a Q&A with the documentary's director, best-selling author and Navy veteran, Scott Mactavish. The evening also includes dinner prepared by former Marine and Chef, Eric Cook and Executive Chef Raymond St. Pierre, Jr. of the American Sector, and a live performance of the documentary's soundtrack from Oscar contender, writer, producer and former VetLaunch cohort, Jeff Widenhofer.

"VetLaunch gave me the resources, guidance and motivation I needed to take my passion for music and transform it from a hobby to a career," says Jeff Widenhofer, graduate of VetLaunch's inaugural accelerator program and musical producer of MURPH: The Protector. "This event is special, not just because of the commemoration of a great hero, but also because I can do a small part in giving back to an organization that has helped me grow my business and excel in my career."

"I started the VetLaunch accelerator program because I truly wanted to help veterans, like myself, transition from military to civilian life," said Robert Armbruster, Marine Corps veteran and founder of VetLaunch. "Resources and information are limited when service members are in this transitional phase, so VetLaunch fills the void by providing on-site training, employee assistance, financial literacy and management and transition seminars."

Tickets to the gala are $150 for general admission and $250 for VIP admission. VIP admission includes a special reception at the American Sector Atrium prior to the event where hors devours and cocktails will be served during a meet and greet with Jeff, Scott and family members of the fallen.

Tickets can be purchased online here or by emailing Jennifer(at)vetlaunch(dot)org. Members of the media can register for a press pass here.
