LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WebSafety, Inc. WBSI has announced it is preparing legal claims against McAfee for their false published statements regarding WebSafety, WebSafety.com and the WebSafety child protection app.

McAfee has labeled WebSafety and its free mobile child protection App as a "Malicious Site" and has shown WebSafety.com as "High Risk" to anyone that uses McAfee software or related services.

According to Rowland Day, CEO of WebSafety, Inc., "These disparaging and damaging statements as listed on the McAfee websites are egregious, false and appear to be intentionally placed to stop a parent from downloading a superior product that competes with a McAfee product.

"WebSafety began its national advertising campaign three weeks ago and has received complaints from parents that McAfee has vilified WebSafety and dissuades the parents from visiting WebSafety's website and downloading the free mobile app that protects children from online threats and potentially harmful behavior.

"WebSafety's app provides an open window through which concerned parents can monitor questionable and potentially harmful content or a direct predatory exchange occurring on their child's mobile device. Thus, McAfee's "malicious site" label is extremely misleading and patently false.

"WebSafety's app works on both iOS and Android mobile devices. The app monitors: apps installed by a child; vulgar and derogatory SMS messages; URLs such as porn and other inappropriate websites; and social media photos, including Facebook and Instagram. The app also tracks past and current location, creates geo-fences for safe or restricted areas; and sets a curfew for use of a mobile device. Its real time notifications allow parents to proactively intervene. Parents have told us how much they love these safety features.

"When McAfee uses its reputation, market position and clout to act as judge and jury to disparage us in the eyes of the public then we have no choice but to tell the public about the malicious, disparaging and damaging statements made by McAfee to steal our potential customers.

"Our lawyers have contacted the lawyers at McAfee and we have not received any substantive response from McAfee. They said they were busy.

"We have no choice but to rectify the egregious and false statements and damages caused by McAfee."
