With Cynthia Spencer-Bass's purchase of its Virginia-DC franchise, Sacramento, Calif.,-based Senior Care Authority now has coast-to-coast representation. Spencer-Bass matches families and seniors with top-quality independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing facilities in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) June 30, 2015

After retiring from a 29-year career with the Department of the Army, Cynthia Spencer-Bass fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming an entrepreneur. She bought the Senior Care Authority franchise serving Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., becoming the first East Coast franchisee for the Sacramento, Calif.,-based company, which also has offices in California, Arizona, Texas, and Minnesota.

Based on the difficulties she experienced when searching for assisted living for her mother-in-law, she wanted to help other families have an easier time of what is often an overwhelming process – determining the best living and care options for a loved one. Senior Care Authority provides hands-on assistance to families and seniors seeking the best care options at independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and residential care facilities.

"I see this as an opportunity to serve an underserved community," Spencer-Bass said. "There are numerous businesses focused on youth and childcare, but not so many on seniors.

"The full-service model is much needed in this market," said the Alexandria resident. "Instead of just handing clients a list of facility names, we walk them through the entire process. We meet one-on-one with families to assess their needs, and accompany them on visits to licensed assisted living and memory care communities, as well as smaller residential care homes. We work to ensure they receive the best rate possible, assist with paperwork, and follow up with the senior after a placement is made.

As a new Senior Care Authority franchisee, Spencer-Bass has gone through extensive training and has spent countless hours inspecting locations, meeting with staff and reviewing state reports to determine any violations issued against them.

The time management and organizational skills she developed as logistics manager for the Army will serve her well as a senior care advisor -- meeting with clients, inspecting locations and networking with other senior service providers.

"My goal is to build many relationships with those businesses that serve the senior population so I can best assist seniors and families by being a resource for the information and services they require," Spencer-Bass said.

Spencer-Bass provides her services at no charge to families, as she typically is compensated by communities as part of their budgeted marketing costs.

In addition to the District of Columbia, Spencer-Bass's Senior Care Authority Northern Virginia territory covers. Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties.
