Health and safety specialists Turner Business Consultants have issued a bulletin providing advice to anyone affected by the recent changes to the CDM Regulations.

(PRWEB UK) 12 June 2015

Health and safety consultancy Turner Business Consultants have issued advice to anyone involved in construction work who may be affected by the recent changes to the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations. The 2007 regulations were recently revoked and replaced by the 2015 regulations, entailing some significant changes to the way in which construction projects are managed. Alongside their bulletin, Turner Business Consultants will be rolling out a new training course to help businesses comply with the new regulations.

The most significant change is the removal of the role of CDM Co-ordinator, with the responsibilities of that position now devolved to the Client, and the Principal Designer on the project. This ensures that health and safety responsibilities are kept within the project, rather than being outsourced, and is intended to reduce risks during construction. However, this also means that businesses carrying out construction work, from office refurbishments to new builds, will have new responsibilities that they must adhere to. Construction projects which were underway prior to the 6th April 2015 are subject to transitional arrangements, but new projects will be subject to the new regulations.

A spokesperson for Turner Business Consultants said: "Because businesses will no longer have a CDM Co-ordinator to oversee their construction projects, a number of duties will pass to them. It is vital to ensure that affected businesses are aware of the new duties they have under the CDM Regulations 2015, so that construction work can be carried out safely and with the right precautions in place. Even those whose projects are already underway must ensure that they're up to date, as their arrangements may need to change significantly before their project completes."
