NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Prudential Financial, Inc. PRU earned a top 10 spot on DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity list for the fifth consecutive year. Additionally, Prudential received CUP's Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award for its outstanding commitment to strengthening the leadership pipeline for diverse professionals.

"Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is consistently reflected in our focus on talent and our business activities," John Strangfeld, chairman and CEO of Prudential told DiversityInc. "It's directly linked to our business strategy, as it drives our ability to innovate and collaborate, and enables us to seize opportunities that are not easy for others to replicate."

Ranking eighth on Diversity Inc's 2015 list, Prudential has placed on the list every year since the survey's inception in 2001. Prudential ranked No. 8 in 2014 and 2013 and No. 9 in 2012. This year, DiversityInc recognized Prudential for its deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, starting from its most senior leadership. For that, and for its programming through the Veterans Initiative, Prudential was placed on DiversityInc's Top 10 Specialty List for veterans for the first time, and received a No. 2 ranking.

The company was also recognized for its significant and increasing outreach to the multicultural marketplace and its Signature Series research, which examines the financial needs and challenges of diverse communities.

Prudential also ranked among the top 10 on three additional DiversityInc specialty lists, ranking No. 2 on the list for people with disabilities, No. 3 for recruitment and No. 10 for mentoring.

Also in April, the Council of Urban Professionals (CUP) honored the Newark-headquartered firm with their Corporate Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award. The award recognized the company's efforts to build a pipeline of diverse talent at all levels, reach diverse market segments and serve as a good corporate citizen. The award was presented during CUPs eighth annual gala, which was held in New York City.

"The key to bringing the full power of diversity and inclusion to everything we do as a firm is our employees," vice president and Prudential's chief diversity officer, Michele Green told the publication. "The impact and authenticity of our collective effort are palpable throughout our company culture, the way we engage with the community and execute all of our business strategies."
