Attendance Exceed All Expectations at the Spring Event

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 03, 2015

U.S. Antique Shows, producer of the industry's most anticipated antique events, reported exceptional weekend sales at the Pier Antique Show. The event was hosted at the Hudson River's Pier 94 on March 28-29.

On opening day, attendance exceed all expectations with two lines extending out the doors and around the corner at the start of the day. With national and international dealers, collectors, interior decorators, and celebrities such as Meg Ryan in attendance, the buying and selling of merchandise remained steady throughout the show.

"While furniture, Asian items, silver, and jewelry had strong sales," said Dan Darby, Emerald Expositions vice president and U.S. Antique Shows general manager. "It was art, home décor pieces, vintage fashion, and items from the Art Deco and Art Moderne periods that really flew out the door at this show. One thing we've learned is that different categories see peaks in interest at different times. Even though this event is held twice a year, the most popular items can vary from show to show."

Lara Kornbluh, owner of Icon Style, says the Pier Antique Show is her favorite show of the year. "I sold a lot of Art Deco pieces at this year's show including a stunning Art Deco diamond bracelet. I saw many of my regular customers, but also new and excited enthusiasts looking to learn more about my collection." Kornbluh's shop is located on the Upper West Side of New York City.

As New York City's largest antique event, more than 300 exhibitors and their incredible array of antique and vintage pieces were featured. Attendees were able to acquire items including a selection of kitchen and home décor, paintings, antique jewelry, art glass, ceramics, and more. Fashion Alley also had a variety of vintage clothing, jewelry and handbags available for purchase.

Pottery dealer Paul Katrich completely sold out his entire showcase of pieces on opening day of the show. Katrich first exhibited at the Pier Antique Show in November 2014 and has consistently had stellar shows. "Each piece I sold is going to a different customer all over the country."

Judy Bergman of What Was Is Vintage, who sells vintage jewelry and accessories for women, was thrilled about her continual flow of customers all weekend. "We had a great corner booth space that provided us with more exposure to attendees and allowed us to expand our range of merchandise. We networked with many new customers that we feel will become long term buyers and friends."

U.S. Antique Shows reported that 60 percent of all booths are sold for the November 2015 show, eight months prior to the show date. In addition, dealers are eagerly signing up to exhibit in Fashion Alley this November. Fashion Alley is one of the most popular sections with attendees and U.S. Antique Shows is currently exploring ways to further market this area, such as offering increased booth space for dealers and special events for attendees.

U.S. Antique Shows now produces eight shows nationally. The Pier Antique Show is held semi-annually. The November Pier Antique Show will be held November 14-15, 2015 at Pier 94. The next New York show scheduled is the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, July 24-27, 2015 at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
