Girl Scouts to Honor Ruth Bruner as the 2015 Gainesville Woman of Distinction

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is proud to announce Ruth Bruner as the 2015 Gainesville Woman of Distinction honoree. The luncheon event in her honor will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:30 a.m., at Gainesville First United Methodist Church and tickets are $45.

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is proud to announce that Ruth Bruner has been selected as the 2015 Gainesville Woman of Distinction honoree. The luncheon event in her honor will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:30 a.m., at Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

The Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction award honors a woman who reflects the values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who serves as an excellent role model for girls.

Mrs. Bruner is a member of the Gainesville City Council and serves on the boards of several local organizations. She served as the Mayor of Gainesville for two years, served two appointed terms on the Hall County Library Board and served as chairperson of the Gainesville City School Board. She is a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sings in the choir and plays the hand-bells. She owned and managed Nursing Care, Inc., the first licensed private duty agency in Georgia, until 2002.

Mrs. Bruner is a South Carolina native and a graduate of Agnes Scott College and the University of Georgia. She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work. She is married to Dr. Robert Bruner and has two sons and three grandchildren.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Individual tickets are $45 and sponsorship opportunities are available.
