New Products May Be Used in a Variety of Applications Including MDU, Multiple Tenant Units (MTU), Commercial Deployments and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)

Livermore, CA (PRWEB) January 27, 2015

All Systems Broadband (ASB) announces the general availability of its new line of Fiber Splice Boxes, or FSB's. The enclosures are available in two sizes and provide an elegant yet economical solution to the storage of fiber splices in many common indoor applications.

“In working with our customers, we became aware of the challenges of properly storing fiber optic splices,” said David Braga, Vice President of Product Development, All Systems Broadband. “There is a need for a simple, compact and inexpensive housing that can handle either single or ribbon fiber cables. We have found a variety of improvised approaches being used including the use of closures designed and built for the outside plant environment,” he said. In some instances, the use of such products may be in violation of building or other safety practices.

Built in the USA, both the compact FSB-A and the larger FSB-D are designed to promote proper fiber management through the use of fiber bend controls and tie-down features. When splicing ribbon fiber, the base of the enclosure serves as the splice tray, maximizing the work area available to the technician. For single-fiber splicing, the FSB-A houses three removable splice trays, while the larger FSB-D holds up to 6 trays. In the single fiber splicing arrangement, an integrated basket provides loose tube storage below the splice trays, and away from cable ports. With a large assortment of cable tie-downs available, these enclosures are highly adaptable to a wide range of network needs.

“As today's commercial and residential building practices trend toward more MDU and Multi-Tenant Units (MTU),” says Braga, “solutions which simplify a service provider's installation will be key to a successful and timely fiber deployment.” Because the enclosures are designed to allow multiple cables to enter and exit, they may be used in series to serve high-rise buildings as well as campus environments. Additionally, their compact size requires little wall space in a building's communications closet, while accommodating up to 288 splices in the FSB-D using the ribbon spicing arrangement.
