Influential technology venture capitalist to contribute to the strategic growth of the company

Cubic Defense Applications, a business segment of Cubic Corporation CUB announced today that seasoned technology venture capitalist and leading authority on simulation technologies, Gilman Louie, has joined the company's defense executive advisory board. The executive advisory board is composed of leading defense, intelligence, counterterrorism and industry officers to help Cubic evaluate strategic growth opportunities, enter new markets and assess technology investments.

“Gilman is a highly talented and proven business leader with valuable insight and tremendous experience in the simulation industry,” said Dave Schmitz, president of Cubic Defense Applications. “We are extremely pleased to welcome him to our executive advisory board and look forward to his guidance as we continue to develop innovative and effective training solutions.”

Louie is a partner of Alsop Louie Partners, a venture capital fund. He is the founder and former chief executive officer of In-Q-Tel, a strategic venture fund created to help enhance national security. Louie is a pioneer in the interactive entertainment industry, with accomplishments that include the design and development of the Falcon F-16 flight simulator series, and licensing Tetris, one the world's most popular computer games. He founded and ran a publicly traded company called Spectrum HoloByte which was acquired by Hasbro Corporation, where he served as chief creative officer of Hasbro Interactive.

Louie earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and completed the Advanced Management Program/International Seniors Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has served on a number of boards of directors and currently chairs the Federation of American Scientists.

  •     Gen. Charles Holland (retired), commander U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Air Force
  •     Gen. Michael Hagee (retired), commandant, U.S. Marine Corps
  •     Gen. Sir Rupert Smith (retired), deputy supreme Allied Commander Europe (NATO), British Army
