MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global consulting firm Protiviti (www.protiviti.com) will partner with The Institute of Internal Auditors Research Foundation™ (https://na.theiia.org/iiarf/Pages/) for the 2015 Stakeholder Survey, part of The Foundation's Global Internal Audit Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK).

The stakeholder study will focus on views and expectations of executive management, the audit committee and CAEs, with the aim of identifying leading practices and insights to improve internal audit effectiveness by closing any gaps between stakeholder expectations and internal audit performance.

"The results of this study will provide internal audit professions with a valuable and vital tool," said IIA President and CEO Richard F. Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA. "As internal audit continues to evolve into a valued advisor to management, we must be attuned to the views of all our key stakeholders. We must be responsive to their goals, priorities and concerns as well as proactive in providing insightful counsel about the risks and challenges that lie beyond the horizon."

CBOK 2010 had a pilot study related to stakeholders, which limited its outreach to participants in the United States. The 2015 CBOK stakeholder study will expand to seek participants from around the globe.

"Protiviti is honored to be selected by The IIA Research Foundation to collaborate on this major global research initiative, and we look forward to further strengthening our long-time partnership with the institute," said Brian Christensen, executive vice president and global leader for internal audit and financial advisory services at Protiviti. "Increasingly, the internal audit function is relied upon as a value-added strategic partner within companies. The stakeholder study will help us all learn more about where stakeholders see the most value from internal audit and where there can be improvement."

Working with project champions in more than 20 IIA Institutes worldwide, Protiviti offices in strategic regions will conduct a survey and in-depth interviews to gather stakeholders' input.  Protiviti's international presence will enable greater reach to target audiences, and the firm's diverse client base will provide a significant population from which to gather data and insights.

"Protiviti will work closely with our solution, industry and country leaders worldwide to help reach the internal audit stakeholders and decision-makers who will be valuable contributors to this research," Christensen said.

Work on the CBOK 2015 Stakeholder Study is expected to take place during the next 18 months with findings planned to be released in 2016.
