SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Two of Halliburton's Indonesian facilities – Badak Base Camp and Batam – received the American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification Q2 Certification, an advanced industry certification standard for oil and natural gas service companies. API recognized Halliburton at OSEA 2014 on Dec. 2. Rao Abdullah, Vice President for Halliburton's Asia Pacific Region, and Shannon Slocum, Halliburton's Vice President, Indonesia, accepted the certificates.

API Q2 is a risk-based quality management system approach that focuses on competency, service design, contingency planning, supply chain controls, preventive maintenance, inspection, service quality plans and management of change. The certification demonstrates an organization's commitment to exceed current generic quality management system standards.

“This API Certification recognizes Halliburton's commitment towards flawless service execution to our customers,” Abdullah said. “API will audit our operations every year, which will help us with sustainable continuous improvement for our ‘journey to ZERO' on health, safety, environmental and service quality incidents. Our operations in Malaysia and Brunei have also been recommended for API Q2 certification.”

“Q2 Certification is the new standard of excellence for oil and natural gas service providers,” said John Modine, API's vice president for Global Industry Services. “Facilities applying for certification undergo extensive audits for their safety practices and the quality of their work. We congratulate Halliburton's facilities in Indonesia on being the first in the Eastern Hemisphere to earn this distinction.”

API Q2 was first published in December 2011. Halliburton was the first company to achieve this standard when its Baroid drilling fluids and waste management service line received the certification in July 2014 for its work in the Gulf of Mexico. Additional Halliburton operations and service lines are working toward achieving the certification.
